Forever 21 Gets Caught Stealing...Again
Tales of Forever 21's "borrowing" of intellectual property have been well documented, but I simply don't believe it's truly striking until you witness it yourself.
I came across this colorblocked dress during my daily perusal of the F21 website and recognized the source immediately. I had been in love with this tiered Jonathan Saunders dress since I first spotted it on Thandie Newton at an event last year.
Don't get me wrong, I adore Forever 21 and their aim to make fashion affordable for young women, but this is just wrong.
The Jonathan Saunders dress retails for $1,144 while the Forever 21 version sells for a mere $22.80.

New Stock For Opening Ceremony

Generally, I despise the celebrities-turned-designer trend that's been en vogue for the past few years. Celebs churn out ill-conceived, over-priced collections a la LC and Heidi, then expect praise for their efforts. What makes these girls think they can carry an entire line in the first place? What, exactly, is unique about Lauren Conrad's sense of style?
But one line that I was excited to hear about was Chloe Sevigny's collaboration with Opening Ceremony. The clothes are quirky and playful, yet still completely wearable.

Guest Designer Comes to Express
Take a look at the pieces that have graced the runways both this season and the season before and you're bound to find tons of great prints. As of Spring 2008, the true test of a fashionista's knowledge is her ability to incorporate these gorgeous prints into her wardrobe.
Now, famed British printmaker Celia Birtwell has teamed with Express to release a new line of 70's flower child inspired tops. They're designs are airy and fun, and she was once the designer behind Ossie Clark.
The line, which is the first guest designer collection from Express, will be in stores April 7. The collection will be carried in select stores, including at the Beverly Center, South Coast Plaza, Glendale Galleria, Brea Mall and Del Amo Fashion Center outposts. Blouses are $79.50 and dresses are $128.

A Documentary on Japanese Street Fashions
I've got to admit, when Gwen Stefani made her solo debut celebrating the off beat styles of the Harajuku girls, I was a bit skeptical. I just didn't understand these Japanese fashionista's aesthetic, and to be quite honest. I still don't. But I recently came across this documentary about Japanese fashion, and it's beginning to make a bit more sense, yet I'm still perplexed (and just a bit disturbed) by their influences. Barbie? Really?

Do You Love It?: Burberry Mixes It Up

Not too long ago, Christopher Bailey vowed to retire the conic Burberry check citing it to be overexposed and easily counterfeitable. I just saw this interpretation of the print during my daily web browsing. It's the Burberry Patchwork Check Bucket Bag available at Nordstrom for $550. On one hand: I respect the fact that Burberry chose to take a risk, on the other hand staring at the bag for 5 minutes gave me a headache. What do you think? Do you love it?
